“Golden To Thrive” is the debut single from Samsaruh, an 18-year-old singer-songwriter based in Melbourne, Australia. It’s a track that oozes with talent, crumbling beats and captivating vocals.
Samsarah is no stranger to excellent releases – she’s already worked with the likes of Peking Duk, Kuren and Slumberjack. Last year she joined Just A Gent on his sold out ‘Just A Tour’, and performed live with him at Splendour in the Grass.
"When I was writing “Golden To Thrive” I stumbled upon the reality that stigmas and stereotypes are always going to exist and you’ll never really have control over them,” Samsaruh explained in a press release. “But instead… we have the power to prove the unknown and the disbelieved. So this song is my power."
And powerful it is.
The track opens with wavering synths, but it’s not long before distant drumbeats punch forward and echo beneath Samsaruh’s tantalising vocals. Her vocals - echoing the airy yet silky quality of London Grammar - take you on a journey that soars and dips with magnificent control, all the while weaving delicately around the instrumentals. The bass creeps in, slowly sinking in a determined spiral before bubbling with renewed energy as the track builds in complexity and power. Written and produced with Joel Dowling and Tim Coghill (AKA Nightflare), “Golden To Thrive” is a polished slice of electronic pop that showcases Samsaruh as a talented songstress.
Keep an ear to the ground for Samsaruh. She’s golden and ready to thrive.
