A friend of mine recently mentioned that he's reading a book about a monk who lived in a grass hut and wrote poetry. We were both taken by the simplicity of it. Touching on that same concept, Sampology's "Memories In Flight" is all the more gorgeous for its clean simplicity.
The Meanjin/Brisbane producer, released this song alongside the announcement of a new album, Regrowth, due later this year. If "Memories In Flight" is anything to go by, and I think it is, I'm excited for the release. I could easily have this flowing through my ears at any turn, be it while working, walking, or spending time with loved ones.
Speaking to the track, Sampology says:
'‘Memories in Flight’ introduces people to the environment and mood of my forthcoming ‘Regrowth’ album. Organic, percussive with thick instrumentation is the soothing backdrop. Everything in this song was recorded in my home studio or on my travels and began with naïve harp improvisation, evolving to include vibraphone, choir, synths piano & more.'
This is a clear display of Sampology's artistry and impeccable taste, and quite frankly, I'm just looking forward to hearing more.
