Why do we like this?
"Final Form" is the glorious first single for 2019 from Zambian-born Aussie talent Sampa The Great. As always, Sampa delivers an uplifting and empowering track reflecting her African heritage.
Produced by longtime collaborator Silentjay and mixed by the underrated rapper Jonwayne, "Final Form" is not just a fantastic song, but further proof of Sampa's greatness as a poet, musician and artist. This is what she had to say about the track;
'Final Form' is about expanding and calling out any negativity towards that growth process. As an artist, I recognise my potential and recognise the growth it takes to get to the final form, but it’s easy to get caught up in the constant chatter around you (how you aren't there yet, you might not make it, time is nearly up). True gold takes time and final form is about moving past negativity that doesn’t understand the growth process. I now recognise my in-between stage; sometimes it drops and sometimes it rises. I love that I get to level up each second. I might even final form tomorrow.
The film clip was shot in Zambia in the lead up to Sampa's first shows on African soil and demonstrates the connection she has with her homeland.
Fingers crossed this single is a sign Sampa is gearing up for the release of long awaited debut album.
