So we've been hearing the name Sampa The Great quite a bit lately, and that's because this lady is releasing some killer transcendent music. Sampa Tembo, along with producer Adventures of Godriguez, consistently release fresh and unique sounds, a fact that is further proven by her latest track "Black Dignity."
Refreshingly raw, Sampa has a sound which can be seen as reminiscent of Lauryn Hill, combining an effortless rhyming style and energy with thought-provoking, socially-conscious themes.
Off the strength of her debut alone, Sampa the Great has been added to an astounding amount of upcoming festivals, landed some great support slots, and is really killing it at music overall. She has also just released a mixtape of Hiatus Kaiyote's 2015 album, after supporting them on their recent Australia tour. Weapon Chosen is a mashup of 6 tracks from Hiatus’ critically acclaimed Choose Your Weapon album, and well worth a listen.
