Wow, wow, wow. UK soul/R&B artist Samm Henshaw has just released his latest, "Autonomy (Slave)," featuring a guest verse from Bonkaz.
This track is phenomenal. I've just listened to it five times in a row.
Opening on punchy piano chords which give way to the melody, Samm's voice seems to grow stronger and more passionate with every release; while the musical soundscape itself is lush and gorgeously fluid, it's the real emotion, the real rawness, that truly takes it to another level.
Bonkaz's verse is gritty, with an understated aggression, seamlessly slipping into the big, bluesy atmosphere. A bridge later gives way to a wailing electric guitar, leading us through to the song's final moments with a deep, satisfying solo.
"Autonomy (Slave)" features on Samm Henshaw's debut EP The Sound Experiment, which is out now. Expect big things in 2016.
