Why do we like this?
"Ode To Artifice" is the latest release from the 22-year-old singer, songwriter Samia. Despite her young age, the New Yorker has been crafting genuine and introspective tales about breakups, feminism, and modern-day anxiety during her short but engaging career.
New single, "Ode To Artifice," is another indie-pop ditty featuring Samia's dazzling vocals and thought-provoking lyrics. Discussing the song and the Nick D'agostino directed film clip, Samia had this to say:
'Ode to Artifice' is a desperate plea; my authentic self is lusting after my stage/party persona and begging her to merge. Nick D'agostino and I decided to tell the story of a girl who spends weeks obsessing over the way she'll present herself at prom, only to discover that she is grossly underdressed compared to the more colourful and popular version of herself who is thriving at the event.
The film clip includes a cameo from actress Mary Louise Parker and addresses themes of identity and authenticity.
