Why do we like this?
Samename is probably best known for his brand of unforgiving grime, but on "Harajuku" he takes the sound in a slightly different direction.
Although the producer himself describes this as summery, it's not the description we'd use. This is a night time song -- absolutely perfect for some late night driving (we tried it out) -- and it perfectly fits the contrast between the dark night and the shimmering lights of the city.
The Japanese samples running throughout the track flitter in and out, creating a darker edge; the parts of the sound we'd normally associate with Samename -- that deep bass and yearning vocal sample -- are all held together by those super sparse, gunshot-esque drums.
