Saint Pepsi is not reinventing the wheel here. They're taking a page out Washed Out's early material, including lots of old school dance samples that have been tweaked and made anew. They released their album Hit Vibes just this past year.
This tune, "Cherry Pepsi," is taken from Sister Sledge's "B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Baby)," a hit song from 1980. I think you have to let your views on sampling fall away and just take this for what it is: a party track to enjoy. It surely succeeds as that.
