Self-proclaimed “supernatural groove rock” band Sad Palace released a new single today titled, “Melody Crux.”
Though this is only Sad Palace’s fourth release, the band has gained momentum quickly. Their sound fuses brooding indie with retro influences. “Melody Crux” is the perfect addition to their previous releases, “Frostbeat,” “Breeze,” and “Rainbow Melt.” All four tracks ride a similar moody wave of upbeat rhythms, funky guitar riffs, and retro synth melodies.
Their songs are somewhat deceiving as the lyrics are rooted in late night existentialism draped over upbeat melodies and infectious hooks. Sad Palace describes this phenomenon saying, “the music stays really upbeat as the words slowly deteriorate with the night, because the night doesn't care about your feelings, it goes on anyway.”
