Why do we like this?
Ryuichi Sakamoto pulled in Oneohtrix Point Never to rework a composition off of his new album ASYNC, creating a further textured, poetic revision of an already wonderful piece. There hasn't been a release from either artist that struck me as an egregious waste of my time.
When it comes to Oneohtrix Point Never, his natural ability to seamlessly blend dark and bright sounds, textures, and melodies always makes sense. There's something really organic about it. It's a dichotomy that shows darkness can't exist without light, and the same for good and bad.
