Why do we like this?

"Grow" is the brooding new single from UK duo Ryan Vail. Comprising producer/singer Ryan Vail and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Kate Cosgrove, the two have combined for this dark yet appealing dose of electronica.

Vail's sombre vocals slither over the hypnotic synth prodcution that's reminiscent of fellow UK act, The XX. There's a real undercurrent of dread throughout "Grow," of set by the captivating harmonies of Vail and Cosgrove that draw the song to a resounding close.

As Vail details below, as well as the EP it takes its name from, "Grow" is a very personal and cathartic track that reflects the serious subject matter.

"Grow" is very personal. The track, and the Grow EP, was written about a friend who passed away suddenly. The project covers the various stages of his journey to death, from telling people he was dying, dealing with it himself, questioning God and finally understanding what was happening.

Grow (the EP) will be released May 5 through Champion Sound Music.
