Perth singer RW Grace has returned with a stunning new track and two new letters next to her name. This is actually her third name change, before reinventing herself as an electronic artist, the then-acoustic folk singer was known by her full name, Grace Woodroofe.
"Shell" follows on from last year's single "Pluto," an almost overwhelmingly eerie, yet gorgeous release. Seductive and dark, Grace's voice is absolutely stunning, almost channeling an early '90s PJ Harvey at its deepest points.
I caught Grace live last year, when she opened for Glass Animals in Sydney. Playing with a full live band, she was humble yet confident, and totally owned the stage in spite of the obvious nerves. Her haunting, occasionally strange, always interesting rhythms and melodies pulsate as powerfully on stage as they do on record.
An impressive and sprawling new single, I'm really looking forward to hearing more from RW Grace.
