Sounds like:
Swedish House Mafia,
Avicii,
Dirty South
Why do we like this?
There's nothing better than various worlds colliding. Whether it happens to be music and comic books (two of my favorite universes), or EDM and and more traditional pop music. Ruben Haze has us covered on both fronts.
This week, Ruben Haze is set to release their EP, City of Dreams. If you aren't familiar with Ruben Haze, they're a Sydney-based music collective consisting of Dirty South and Rudy Sandapa who have come together to create this fictional character who goes by the name Ruben Haze, much like Gorillaz with all of their cartoon alter egos.
While Ruben Haze hasn't lined up their own cartoon yet, they will be releasing a digital comic book alongside City of Dreams. Judging by the cover shown on Ruben Haze's website, this book is no gimmick, and I haven't been this excited about a comic book/music cross over since Coheed and Cambria's The Amory Wars.
The last single is a track called "One Way Ticket." On it, Ruben Haze brings together their vision of integrating live band sounds with more traditional EDM production techniques; pop-oriented vocals intercede over synthesized strings, electric guitar riffs, and a live drum kit -- not to mention a verse from English rapper Example thrown in for good measure.
You can get your hands on City of Dreams and its accompanying comic book tomorrow. Perhaps the world will never be the same.
