Rose Wintergreen Feet In The Sand

I really respect musicians who are willing to "try something different" by branching out from what they're used to. Typically a folk artist, Melbourne's Rose Wintergreen has developed a reputation for her poignant songwriting, having released her debut EP Warm Chocolate Heart a few years back. With a second EP on the way, current single "Feet In The Sand" gives us a glimpse into Wintergreen's new, more electronically driven direction.

Already shortlisted as a finalist for the 2013 Vanda and Young Songwriting Award (which was taken out by the Preatures' "Is This How You Feel?"), this new style is certainly paying dividends for the talented songstress. Maintaining her emotionally charged songwriting, she has made use of a simple yet effective backdrop of drifting electronics and gentle keys to create a truly stunning single. It's really interesting listening to her older work to see the change (all available on her SoundCloud).
