The lyrics ring out, "When you left you took your colors." Roosevelt has crafted a most colorful way to say, it's not the same since you left. The message I'm getting from him is like, they may have added colors to your life that you will miss, but the most important thing is that they keep their colors and shine on. Paired with a disco-house beat, this track is nothing but positive outlooks and hopeful new beginnings.
"Colours" comes from Roosevelt's debut album, out August 19, and will be released through two labels, Greco-Roman and City Slang. A unique approach considering how hard it is to market a whole album.
Now, you may be thinking, how the heck is it that Roosevelt would be "debuting" when we've already heard so much great stuff from him over the years? The answer lies somewhere in the new model of the music industry and the fact that entire albums are unique adventures for electronic artists.
At any rate, I hope your ears have fun listening to "Colours." Shine on!
