It is hard not to admire the singular vision of Romare, an artist who continues to carve out a sound that is entirely his own whilst drawing on a wide range of influences.
Nowhere is that clearer than on his forthcoming album, Love Songs: Part Two, where disco, house, jazz, punk funk, soul and the blues all collide in spectacular fashion.
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Romare is not interesting in conforming to genre rules, forgoing traditional house tempos and tropes, and yet coming out with a sound that still works as well in clubs as in headphones.
New track "Je T'aime" is case in point, a funky, twisting, seven-minute roller of a track, which is sure to whet appetites for Love Songs: Part Two, due out on Ninja Tune on 11 November 2016. Pre-order your copy here.
