Why do we like this?
The Minneapolis quintet Rogue Valley is gently taking us by the hand and leading us through summer to the emergence of fall with their latest LP, The Bookseller's House. The band's diligent effort to release four seasonally inspired albums (in one year) has reached its autumn harvest and is getting ready to dawn the sounds of fall with Geese In The Flyway (due in November).
If I was to predict the musical forecast that's in store for fall and winter, based on the bands previous seasonal melodies (albums), I'd say we're in for some delightful auditory weather on the horizon. The Bookseller's House does a fantastic job of capturing all the nostalgic emotions and carefree sensations that define a beautiful summer.
The Bookseller's House commences with the fitting track titled, "Rose Festival." It's a lovely, blossoming tune about the good and bad times between lovers. I was then transported to the running of the bulls with the magical ardor of "Encierro." The enchanting buzz of "Jar Flies" feels like the perfect song to relish in the innocence of a budding romance.
Summer lovers, warm starry nights, glowing full moons, ferris wheels, and the enamoring beauty of fireflies flirting in the night are some of the thematic inspirations you will find while rediscovering the wistful days of seasons past as you venture into The Bookseller's House.
