Sounds like:
Kings of Leon,
Band of Horses
Why do we like this?
Having released a bunch of music back in 2011, including their debut EP, Sydney band Rockets are back with new material. Their time off has seen the band taking on a new, more developed direction, and if single "Hallways" is anything to go by, it's a positive shift.
Recorded and produced themselves, they were given a helping hand by Tim Carr (Matt Corby, Julia Stone) to finish the job. I used to be a massive Kings of Leon fan, and there are plenty of parallels here "“ it's got that grit that made their earlier work so appealing. Plenty of throaty vocals, throbbing bass and lashing percussion, with the echoing choruses another highlight.
With their own recording studio now up and running, it's no surprise that a new record is scheduled for release later this year.
