Why do we like this?
There are a lot of random things that appear in my SoundCloud stream, but every once in a while I manage to find that diamond in the rough. Today that diamond is Brooklyn-based quartet Rocket and the Ghost and their first single "Goodbye," taken from their upcoming EP.
There's a lot to like about these guys, namely how polished they sound at this stage of their careers. They manage to find the perfect balance of high and low points in this rock 'n' roll number, which sounds like something we've come to expect from bands like Alabama Shakes.
I can't get enough of those bluesy guitar riffs in the background and the quietly spoken, but poignant, vocals from the lead singer Kiyoshi -- absolute heaven to my ears.
Their EP is scheduled to be released this month, but until then I'd keep this one on repeat!
