A new Robin Thicke tune isn't something I'd generally get excited about, but when you add Nas into the equation, you get my attention.
"Deep" is a collaboration between the two that finds Nas getting political and Thicke emotional over a soulful beat.
Opening with an acapella freestyle, Nas addresses police brutality and racial injustice before Thicke comes in with a hook contemplating how his problems mean little in the grand scheme of things currently going on in the world.
Nas gets a second verse towards the song's end where he spits, "A toupee wearin' lair's tryna run the U.S.A." in reference to Donald Trump.
I can take it or leave it when it comes to Thicke, but as he has been doing so of late, Nas demonstrates why he is still one of the fiercest and passionate lyricists getting it done.
