After hearing the
Ryan Hemsworth remix of Mikky Ekko's "Pull Me Down," I became a quick fan of Ekko's attractive, androgynous vocals. Rihanna's "Stay" doesn't do as much for his voice as the former, but it certainly was the reason I decided to listen to the track in the first place.
Them Jeans, aka Jason Stewart, shuffles the track along at perfect pace -- fast enough to keep it moving, slow enough to breathe in the sentiment. It's complementary to the original, an approach you could expect from a producer that doesn't need to show off all of his skills in one remix.
The L.A. native regularly tackles a diversity of artists, from Sunday Girl to Childish Gambino, including producing his own music in collaboration with the likes of Anna Lunoe. And as a DJ and promoter, his support spans genres from deep house to rap to pop. Impressively, his musical career doesn't stop there either. Stewart also hosts a weekly podcast interviewing fellow musicians such as Jacque Renault and RAC.
