Richard Griffith, UK-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer, has released debut album, Percepts. He has been perfecting this project over the past two years while finishing his degree in medicine (super casual). When listening to this 12-track collection, it's difficult to categorize Griffith's music into a specific genre; rather, a broad spectrum. His music appears in both bedroom pop and lo-fi hip-hop playlists.
"Last Thoughts" is one of the stand out songs alongside "Fine" and "Passing." Griffith cites influences of late-night existential musings and dark, jazzy tones. He also mentions that the project reflects on subjects such as loss, self-doubt and a sense of time seemingly sailing by, throughout finding ways to be at peace amongst all of these.
Jason says that he sounds like Michael Franks. For anyone who doesn't know who that is (me), he's a singer/songwriter and a leader in the contemporary R&B scene back in the day. I can hear the resemblance between Griffith's smooth vocals and R&B/soul music.
"Last Thoughts" is an uplifting, atmospheric track that'll have you daydreaming about simple days of sun.
