Berkeley rapper Rexx Life Raj caught me off guard with "Where I Belong." Shout out to Matt St. John over at East Bay Express for the feature he wrote on Raj in early December. That piece got me hooked on Raj's Drake-like flow and producer JULiA LEWiS's crisp, bubbly pool party of a beat.
"Where I Belong" can be found on Raj's most recent release Father Figure 2: Flourish. The Drake comparisons may be tired, but it's easy to hear the resemblance throughout the LP. The kicker is that Raj actually elevates above it all, delivering rhymes with a clear sense of self and vision.
