My ears prick up whenever I hear Rex Orange County ever since I first listened to his song "Sunflower."
It's so hard to create really good music that is also unique and distinct to the artist, but I feel that Rex Orange County manages to pull that off with seeming ease. I didn't know who Benny Sings was before coming across "Loving Is Easy" but after listening to his Tiny Desk performance, it's clear that this Dutch artist is the perfect match for Rex. The two both manage to work with R&B and soul elements, layered over and under hip hop beats.
"Loving Is Easy" was released with a video made by Chris Ullens and Rex Orange County. The film is a well-done stop frame animation of clay characters moulded into both artists who then perform the song.
