Remember Sports? Well, the band formerly known as Sports, is back with a new name and a brand spankin’ new album coming out in mid-May. For those of you who need a refresher, Remember Sports is a Gambier, Ohio based college band turned real-life-big-time band signed to San Francisco sweetheart label Father Daughter Records.
The third in a series of singles released ahead of their upcoming album, “The 1 Bad Man” finds the band doing what they do best: fuzzy, jangly fast-paced guitar rock about growing up and being unsure about it all. With lines like, “Oh my god I’m petrified/We’re so happy we could die,” it’s nice knowing that despite a name change, the band is still true to it’s confident-yet-apprehensive roots. The single, clocking in at a short and sweet 2 minutes and 15 seconds, starts with a deceptively gentle acoustic riff, only to explode right into a fuzzy electric guitar lick that instantly sets the angsty tone for the song.
It’s unapologetic, a little bit anxious, and unbelievably honest about what it’s like trying to figure out what the heck you’re doing and trying not to be a bad man while doing it.
The new album, Slow Buzz, comes out May 18th on Father Daughter Records -- and I know, and I know, and I know that you’re just as excited about this album as I am.
