It's been almost two decades since Sweden's Red Sleeping Beauty has released an album.
Featuring Kristina Borg, singer/guitarist Niklas Angergård (from the famed Acid House Kings), guitarist Mikael Matsson (The Shermans), and bassist Carl-Johan Näsström, the group has returned from their long slumber and will be releasing a new album titled Kristina.
But before the album drops, they have given everyone a taste of something new with their single "Cheryl, Cheryl, Bye." A mixture of mellow pop melodies that are created with analogue synths, acoustic guitar and subtle percussion, the song brings back the summer days of when indie pop ruled the airwaves. Angergård’s gently adds a serene voice to lull you into floating dream.
Named after fellow member Kristina, the album is a tribute to the trials and tribulations she’s been going through battling cancer. But as Kristina brings her journey to recovery, the band believes that Red Sleeping Beauty is back for good and is already expecting to work on new music soon.
Their new album Kristina will be released on June 17, 2016 via Shelflife & Labrador Records.
