Today Red Hot Chili Peppers announced the release of their eleventh album, The Getaway, and shared first single "Dark Necessities."
To be honest, I'm still not sure how I feel about this one. Flea's trademark bass sounds and Anthony Kiedis alluring wail are present, and pleasant enough, it's hard to get excited. I don't think these guys have put out anything exciting for about 15 years so I'm still very much on the fence.
Fans will no doubt love "Dark Necessities" and be even more hyped by the announcement that Danger Mouse produced the album and Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich was responsible for the final mix.
The Getaway is set for release June 17.
