We all have that one killer artist that we like to brag about discovering before anyone else. And for the last three years, Reaper's been my go-to. It's only a matter of time before he explodes on to the mainstream, so get your listens in while his career is still young.
"TERRORS" is Reaper's most artist-defining song: it's electric guitar heavy with a flair of electronic keyboarding; it's slow, winding and twangy like his most comparable contemporary Yellow Days; its chorus is impossibly catchy. Like his namesake, the lyrics in his work are often dark, though Reaper excels in lifting them up into R&B and even pop realms with warm, springy compositions rather than always using cold, harsh sounds. But don't worry if you're looking for something truly melancholy – he does that pretty well, too.
Keep an eye out for Reaper in the coming years, and just remember: I bragged about him first.
