Why do we like this?
Real Estate, oh Real Estate, why must you tease us so? These two tracks are just enough to keep me wanting more. It's almost as if you want us to be hanging by your coattails, pleading for another album. When will this maddening wait end?!
If you're the type of person who's into roughly eight minutes of heavy petting and/or love making, these two tracks have got your back. They're ethereal, gently grungey, melodic, harmonizing, and you'll probably feel a random tug at the ol' heartstrings here and there. These two tracks are a great lead out of the late fall and into the lazy winter that precedes us.
The first track, "Out of Tune," has a lazy feel to it; I can imagine the band sitting in a garage or basement in an uneventful Jersey town, projecting their insights and ambitions... and then they decide to go to the beach. Which leads me to the second track. I can't help but reminisce about summer while listening to "Reservoir #3." It's more upbeat but not by much (because Lord knows this past summer was debilitatingly hot). All you want to do is sit or lay and tap your fingers and feet.
Real Estate has an "easy-to-please" quality about them. I can't help but think that they compose these songs with such ease which in turn, their fans welcome with open arms. So please, stop this madness and grace us with another oh-so-pleasurable eargasm.
