The EP finally dropped, and it was well worth the wait. Ravyn Lenae and Steve Lacy’s, CRUSH, is just as groovy and scintillating, as the first single, “Sticky,” that I reviewed a couple weeks back.
With Lacy producing the whole thing, and lending his vocals on two songs, this little project proves how perfect the two sound together. On this track, “4 Leaf Clover,” we find Ravyn and Steve, going back and forth in an alluring conversation-like style.
Lacy talks about how he knew how sublime their collaborating would be in this interview:
When I got the opportunity I looked at is as like, 'Yes, this is my Pharrell/Kelis, my Timbaland/Aaliyah, my J*Davey moment.' I had to take it.
Although this just came out, it has me wanting more. I can never seem to get enough of Lacy’s smooth production and Ravyn’s dreamy and dulcet voice. These two are collaboration goals, and a whole album from them would surely be extraordinary; but until then, join me by throwing CRUSH on repeat for the rest of the day.
