A mix of countless influences, I'm not really sure what to make of Melbourne collective RaRa's music, but I can tell you it's really got to me. The group recently put the finishing touches on an 8-track concept record called Pink and Teal, and if you want some personality to your music, this is definitely one for you.
There's a lot to be said about a group doing something completely original, and that description fits RaRa to a T. Current single "Favourite Gatorade Flavour" is their (somewhat) tongue-in-cheek version of a boy-band jam (be sure to keep an eye out for the soon-to-be-released video clip!).
Floating electronic arrangement creates the backbone, with various group members taking turns to rhyme or croon over the top -- it's a track very easy to get lost in. Everything about RaRa is well thought-out and formulated, while still maintaining an overflowing of spontaneity.
The Pink and Teal record features collaborations with fellow Melbourne stars Friendships (check out "Green Beat" here), Silent Jay and Martin King, and can be picked up as a name your price download on Bandcamp.
