This is honestly one of the best Radiohead covers I've ever heard, and I'm so excited to share it with you today.
OK Lady, Roman GianArthur's EP of six Radiohead covers, was released yesterday. He's one of the first artists to be released under Janelle Monae's own Epic Records imprint, Wondaland.
I love each track -- it's amazing to hear Radiohead in this light, carefully carved out from a full range of soul and R&B influences, like D'Angelo, Miguel, Erykah Badu, Frank Ocean, and more. But I had to pick one, and I picked this one.
The soundscape just builds and grows and changes and shifts. From the stunning vocal harmonies, courtesy of the impeccable Janelle Monae, the track starts off in a soulful, bluesy space. It gives way to a squealing guitar solo, before spreading back out into partially ambient lounge jazz, and then... well, you get the picture. There's a lot to love about this incredible track.
I highly recommend checking out all six tracks - give it a listen here.
