It is with great pleasure that I formally introduce you to R O Z E S, a 21-year-old American artist from Philadelphia. You might recognise her name from a remix I reviewed a couple weeks ago by Arthur Younger. If you haven't heard her yet, you're in for a treat.
"Desirable," her second single to be released, is wonderfully emotive and relatable. It's full of echoes, vocals layered on more vocals, strings, strong drums, piano... it's the whole package, and it's really beautiful.
If you let it, her hauntingly alluring voice can take you on a personal journey through the lyrics. It's not a song you just listen to in the background, it's quite reflective. I think the bridge is perfect, gently building to the chorus with the repetition of the rhetorical question "Do you feel the same, feel the same?" We've all been there.
Her most recent venture, featuring as a vocalist on "Limelight" for Australian DJ Just a Gent's successful debut single, is very different from this track, proving just how unique her voice is and adaptable she is.
She's currently working on an EP slated for release in early 2015. If her current releases are anything to go on, I can safely predict that the EP is going to be pretty impressive. Keep a close eye on this one!
