Qi Yama is an alternative R&B artist from Montreal that just put out his first official release, Wilt. The 8-song debut is a colorful, synth drenched collage that brings to mind so many recent greats. With lo-fi vocals, field recordings, and chopped up melodies, the release is one part Kevin Abstract, one part Youth Lagoon, and one part Saba.
"Bamboo Princess," is the fifth track, and one of the album's highlights. Sunny keyboards warble like a calm lake. A drum track slowly ambles along, not taking up too much room. There really isn't too much to complain about -- Qi Yama has a unique sound that's got me hungry for more.
