Why do we like this?
PVT (who changed their name from Pivot in 2010) is somehow one of the most revered and still underappreciated bands Australia has ever produced. Signed to legendary Warp Records, the experimental electronic rock trio have released three critically acclaimed albums to date. They're currently applying the finishing touches to a fourth, Homosapien, and have just released the album's first single.
They seem to have an incessant need to find new ways to express themselves, and if "Nightfall" is anything to go by, they've done it again. It's an imposing track, dark and foreboding, with a greater importance placed on the vocal arrangements. The huge soundscapes are still there though, created with vintage drum machines and "found-sound" sampling.
PVT have a huge couple of months coming up leading up to the release of Homosapien. They're currently completing a North American tour with Menomena before heading to Europe for a run of dates alongside Bloc Party and Gotye (check out their Facebook for details).
