Why do we like this?
Psychic Babble is Colin Frangicetto's (of Circa Survive) new solo project. This single, "Let Me Change," is taken from his debut album My Brother's Ears/My Sister's Eyes, released back in August, though this album has been five years in the making (talk about anticipation!).
The track starts off full force with no hesitation. There's a ton of reverb which immediately gives off an airy dream-like aura. The first thing I thought was, "This is something I'd listen to if I were really really high and having a picnic on the beach." Needless to say, it's November and it's cold, and this song is making me nostalgic for summer.
Anyway, I can't really count how many synths are actually used in this track, but there are enough to make saturated swirling effects that can probably sooth any human at any age. It's an overall modern-day indie psychedelic track with wonderful clicks and clacks to compliment the synths, harmonies and densely reverberated vocals.
I haven't heard Psychic Babble's debut album so I can't comment on how the rest of the album fares, but you sure can! Like I said before, My Brother's Ears/My Sister's Eyes has been out since this past August, so if this song happens to tickle your fancy then you've definitely got some more listening to do.
