Professor Brian Oblivion has a great name. It sounds like a someone that grew up making beats in Dexter's Lab.
Thankfully, those beats are dope. The producer blends electronic elements with tried-and-true boom-bap frameworks to create a feel that is modern but in the lineage of classic hip-hop. Clockwise Records, the imprint releasing his sophomore album, Dissertation: Volume 1, describes the being as having:
"Influences of the world’s musical past, the professor meticulously synthesizes and reframes specimens of sound to create sound collage that is rooted in principle and steeped in culture. Hard hitting drums, scintillating synths, dancing melodies and grooving bass lines construct Dissertation: Volume 1, culminating in a cacophony of head nodding slappers."
Dissertation: Volume 1 drops September 4.
