Ever since the release of the Grammy nominated analog-meets-digital masterpiece that was A Color Map of the Sun, I have eagerly awaited new music from Pretty Lights. Yesterday, Derek Vincent Smith answered my electro-soul prayers in the form of a nostalgic and colorful video.
Though the visuals are a window into the past, they're set to the sounds of "Only Yesterday," the newest Pretty Lights track. It's full of all the soulful vocal samples, hip-hop inspired percussion and satin melodies that I've come to expect from the artist.
The video captures the inception of a 2-day Pretty Lights camping festival, set in Smith's hometown of Telluride, Colorado. Featuring the Analog Future Band, thousands of blissful fans and incredible CO scenery, it's sure to give you chills and make you wish you'd been there to experience the magic.
Derek has announced his return to Telluride this coming August 26th and 27th for round two. Grab your tickets here and check out this cryptic teaser video foreshadowing new Pretty Lights goodness to come.
