Nick Principe, also known as Port St. Willow, first caught our attention in 2012 with his highly praised debut LP. Principe's sophomore effort Syncope, out now digitally via People Teeth and on disc in Japan this week via flau, is a welcome return to the brass and percussion-laced dreamscapes that made our first encounter so magical.
"Ordinary Pleasure" embraces the raw grace of Principe's falsetto and The Antlers' Peter Silberman's living, breathing synth work. Laura Snapes of Pitchfork wrote some beautiful words about the track in late December. Go read them on a new tab while "Ordinary Pleasure" rises from here into the air like campfire smoke.
