Why do we like this?

Following on from last months "DIY," Toronto's PONY has unleashed the giddy pop-punk single "Alone Tonight."

The track is a rollicking pop number with an undercurrent of 90s rock vibes. Singer and guitarist Sam Bielanski's earnest vocals coo, "You can't make all the rules, you can't play me like a fool," as she details the end of a relationship with a positive reflection.

Speaking of the track, Bielanski had this to say to Fader;

"I wrote "Alone Tonight" when I was in a super codependent/comfortable relationship. We would literally do the exact same thing every day, which included watching 5 or 6 episodes of Dragons Den on Netflix. I realized that we had absolutely nothing to talk about anymore and we just watched TV all the time to kind of hide the fact that maybe we weren't 'meant to be.' It's very much about how in the end I realized being alone, as scary as it was at the time, was way better than settling for someone who I basically just watched TV with."

PONY's debut 7 inch is due out on Buzz on May 12th.
