Why do we like this?
Today PLOY are following up their last release "VRDSNT" (which Indie Shuffle copped the premiere of as well) with yet another bubbly, synth-infused single.
"Too Far Away" seeps upbeat electronica through an unbelievable variety of synth, layered vocals and ticking percussive lines. Singing about some far away lover that appears to be just out of reach, Justin Victoria and Gil Wojcik find their touch with the use of slight syncopation, stressing each and every beat. Melismatic in every which way possible, the vocals enhance the overall tightly-packaged four minutes of pure bliss.
I adore the direction that PLOY is exploring, utilizing their signature keyboard sound, used in tandem with synthesizers and the oh so important drum machine. Although respecting the shadow their previous work, both Victoria and Wojcik uniformly have taken "Too Far Away" into what electro-pop should be.
