The San Francisco outfit Pllush just dropped their first full length album since 2015. Stranger to the Pain is chock full of off-kilter vocals and out of tune guitar that'll coat you in a layer of angst. Verging on shoegaze, it's top tier indie rock.
The way that first riff wobbles up and outward reminds me of so many groups from the 90s and early 2000s. And the way Pllush lets their instruments speak for themselves allows for some pristine heartache. The kind you can only get from such quintessential bottom-of-the-barrel distortion.
