Hats off to all the folks that made this year's
Virgin Mobile Freefest possible. It was a blast bouncing around Merriweather Post Pavilion with so many fellow music lovers. There were the old and new school rock fans who came out in support of Allen Stone, Ben Folds Five, ZZ Top, and Jack White. They sure weren't disappointed, especially with White, who put on a killer set capped off by "Seven Nation Army."
The dance forest was a great place to
score drugs catch acts like Penguin Prison, Alvin Risk, Zedd, Porter Robinson, and Above & Beyond. It was high energy (pun intended) from the start, which helped set the mood while exploring the festival grounds.
For me, it was quite satisfying to take in Santigold from atop a Ferris wheel, lounge out on a "grassy" knoll while Nas did his thing, finally get to hear M83 live, and learn what all this Skrillex talk is about. That man tore
Freefest apart in the best of ways. Every act did, as far as I'm concerned
Big ups to Virgin Mobile for throwing a
free music festival in benefit of youth homelessness, and for making it such an enjoyable experience.
