One of the showcases that I'm looking forward to most at SXSW this year is the official Infinity Cat showcase. The story behind Infinity Cat Recordings is one of my favorite DIY stories in recent music industry history.
The hard-rocking DIY record label was started by brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall in 2002, when they were just 14 and 16 years old. You might also recognize these names from their band, JEFF The Brotherhood. Since 2002, Infinity Cat has been at the heart of the Nashville punk-rock scene, putting out good ol' fashioned rock and roll bands.
The showcase is a stacked night of punk rock, including Rozwell Kid, Jawws, Music Band, PUJOL, Ed Schrader's Music Beat, Diarrhea Planet, and JEFF The Brotherhood. The showcase is on Thursday, March 19 at Swan Dive on Red River Street. I've seen two of these bands live before (Diarrhea Planet and JEFF The Brotherhood) and they melted my face off, so I fully expect them to bring down the house at this showcase.
