Haruki Murakami, one of my favorite Japanese authors, has a knack for describing emotion in a way that is beautiful and straightforward all at once. In Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World (one of my personal favorites), he writes, “Music brings a warm glow to my vision, thawing mind and muscle from their endless wintering.”
I can’t help but feel that when it comes to cinematic electronica, like the kind featured in today’s Sunday Night Chill playlist, Murakami’s words perfectly sum up the way it feels to let orchestral, ambient beats wash over you. So close your eyes, hit play, and allow yourself to melt just a little bit.
