"In 1802, a chemist and amateur meteorologist named Luke Howard presented a paper recommending a new system of classifying clouds, using the names cumulus, stratus, and cirrus."
Last year, Melbourne composer and pianist Luke Howard (named after the chemist), released one of the most beautiful albums you're likely to come across. Sun, Cloud, a classically slanted masterpiece, drew plenty of praise both locally and abroad, with the record being long-listed for the Australian Music Prize.
This year, the joy of the album will live on, as Howard enlists the help of some musical friends to give it a brand new light. Among others, Indie Shuffle favorites like Kyson, Tim Shiel, and Japanese Wallpaper have created their impressions of Howard's music -- and the results are, in a word, stunning. Posessing a much more electronic influence, the Night, Cloud release could not be more perfectly suited to our Sunday Night Chill playlists.
Both records are available to purchase digitally or hard copy on Howard's Bandcamp. He'll also be performing at this year's Great Escape Festival on May 8 2014 alongside Douglas Dare, Benjamin Clementine and Asgeir at Brighton St Mary's
