Back in 2006, Scrubs continued to make its run on NBC with its fifth season.  The show garnered more of a mainstream following, as Zach Braff's popularity grew (following some successful movie roles). Despite the more mainstream audience, the show continued on with its own brand of humor, including J.D.'s daydream sequences, random musical interludes, and all-around goofy comedy writing. While there was plenty of laughs in Scrubs Season 5, there was also a fair share of drama,  such as Carla and Turk getting pregnant, Dr. Cox completely breaking down after losing patients, and J.D. being jealous of Elliot's new boyfriend. The drama made sure that the audience still connected with the characters in a meaningful way -- even though the show definitely leaned a little bit more towards the comedy side of life. Music also continued to play a crucial role on the show, with characters breaking out into some classic tunes (like Zach Braff singing "Africa" by Toto and Donald Faison belting out some of Neil Diamond's "America"). Some great indie tunes were also featured in the show, whether it was the cover of the Daniel Johnston's song "Living Life" by Eels, or "World Spins Madly On" by the Weepies. Ben Folds, Aqualung and one of my personal favorites from high-school Fountains of Wayne also made their way into episodes during Season 5. So, jam out to the Scrubs Season 5 Soundtrack playlist below and think of you're favorite episodes! Also, check out the Season 1 soundtrack here and music highlights from Seasons 2, 3, and 4 here.
