Field Day is an outdoor music festival held once a year in Victoria Park, London between sister festivals Underage (aptly titled since it's only for kids 13-17) and Apple Cart. The festival, put on by Tom Barker of
Eat Your Own Ears and started back in 2007, boasted an impressive line-up this year that included Glasser, James Blake, Jamie xx, Warpaint, and Zola Jesus, to name a few.
While I'm the first to admit that I'm not really big on festivals (I mean who in their right mind actually wants to spend a lot of money buying a ticket so that they can just stand in giant, disorganized lines and spend even more money on outrageously priced drinks?) I'll admit that Field Day was worth every pound. With seven tents and over 100 sets, there was all types of music to see and all kinds of fun to be had (talk about adult playground: there was even a giant slide). Check out below for a little info on Indie Shuffle's take of the day's Top 7 (it's a magical number according to JK Rowling).
First though, some food for thought: I once saw a post on
Reddit that was really intriguing: "You are not stuck in traffic, you are traffic." I couldn't help but point this maxim out when people kept referring to how many hipsters they were seeing at Field Day. Keep this in mind the next time you talk about "all those [other] hipsters."
