Melbourne producer Planète has become one of my favorites in a very short amount of time, and given the wealth of talent this country is producing, that's saying a lot. The prolific artist has been busy over the past couple of years, and his recent release -- a remix of Tincture's "Similar Circles" -- drew plenty of interested ears.
Now he's turned back to his original work, with the first of two releases scheduled for the remainder of 2014. "Snow Sketch/Visions" shows off Planète's polished production talent at its very finest: a smooth, icy offering of electronic beats. "Visions" just shades it for me, and you'll be able to see why he references the likes of Jon Hopkins and Floating Points as influences. I seem to have been writing about a lot of hypnotic music recently, but this is next level stuff.
Planète is definitely an artist you should make time for. Give his solid back catalogue a look before he releases more new material in the coming months.
