While she may be unsure of how her own musical moniker is spelt (her Facebook and SoundCloud accounts alternate between PIX, Pix and p-i-x), 19-year-old Hannah Rodgers is certainly in command of one thing: her voice.
Hauntingly compelling in its haziness, Rodgers’ vocal lends her second track – the follow-up to the ghost-like "I Wake" – a certain melancholy that points to a diverse palette of influences, from Aphex Twin and Joni Mitchell to the "magic realism of Watership Down" and Stephen King novels.
The track itself is cited on her Facebook page as being born "from a misheard Cocteau Twins" lyric, and weaves a spine-tingling spell with its discordant chords and beats – perfect listening material for the impending autumnal chill.
